In place outside the limits of the town of Calcutta it is the duty of the police, acting under the orders of the District Magistrate, to ascertain whether pointing presses are registered, and to insist upon a due observance of the provisions of the law (vide sectons 4 and 5, Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867).
